In this year there are two variants of the kanji (Japanese symbol) for "Meiji": one where the two characters are not connected (Type 1), and one where the two characters are connected with an additional stroke (Type 2.) The latter is much scarcer, with fewer than 15% of the PCGS-graded examples being of the Type 2 variety.
