This scarce date 20 Sen is even scarcer due to being of the Early Period variety. While this example has been wiped resulting in the cleaned designation, it still exhibits attractive surfaces and strong luster.
For the Meiji 8 20 Sen there are two varieties: an early period and a later period. The early period is characterized by a much larger bow and open left stem on the reverse and is the rarer of the two varieties, representating only about 30% of the total graded population.
