Minted over only three years, Japanese Trade Dollars are exceedingly rare in mint state. This example is especially alluring, with nearly proof-like surfaces. Just the slightest amount of frostiness seems to have precluded the PL designation, although in our opinion this is much more proof-like than many of the PL graded examples.
