A remarkably well preserved example of a Japanese Yen with chopmarks.
Chopmarks are symbols (typically Chinese characters) that were stamped by merchants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in many parts of Asia. These chopmarks were used to validate weight and silver content of coins used in trade.
In addition to the "Chop Mark" designation, it appears this coin has been cleaned.
