A beautiful choice example of the "new" 20 Yen gold series of the Meiji period. These new gold coins featured a lower gold content than previous Meiji coins. There are two variants for this year, one with the 明 character connected and one with the character non-connected. This example is of the latter category, which is slightly more rare.
