A beautiful rich brown example of the uncommon porcelain 1 Sen coin, graded MS62 by PCGS.
These porcelain Sen were developed during WW2 as an alternative to metal coinage. Many were produced, but they were technically unissued and while some may have circulated, they were not considered legal tender.
Composed of various clays and granite, the colors ranged from red to dark brown based on how long they were baked.
